Overview

  • Dr. Garcia-Diaz is the director of clinical infectious diseases research and medical subspecialties at Ochsner. Dr. Garcia-Diaz earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University and completed her internship, residency and infectious diseases fellowship at Ochsner Medical Foundation. She is board certified in infectious diseases and has been on staff at Ochsner since 1998. Dr. Garcia-Diaz is an associate professor at University of Queensland - Ochsner Clinical School, and a clinical associate professor of Medicine at Tulane. She also oversees the research of medical students in her role as director of medical student researcher. Dr. Garcia-Diaz is a prolific researcher who is active internationally in the field of infectious diseases; she is a certified principal investigator (CPI) and directs infectious diseases clinical research. She is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, American College of Physicians and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Her professional interests include infections following organ transplantation and other immunocompromised hosts, as well as fungal infections.
