Overview

  • Dr. Freddy Abi-Samra earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Medical School where he also completed his internship and residency. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Metropolitan General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio followed by a research fellowship in hypertension and a clinical fellowship in cardiac pacing and electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Abi-Samra has been on staff at Ochsner since 1986 where he directs the electrophysiology and pacing services. He is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and specializes in syncope implantable defibrillators, radiofrequency ablation, permanent pacemaker implantation, sudden death atrial fibrillation/flutter, and ventricular arrhythmia. Dr. Abi-Samra is fluent in French and Arabic. Clinical interests include syncope implantable defibrillators, radiofrequency ablation, permanent pacemaker implantation, sudden death atrial fibrillation/flutter, and ventricular arrhythmia.
