Overview
- Dr. Yvonne Gilliland earned her medical degree from Wroclaw Medical University, Poland. She completed her postgraduate training in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Gilliland is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and echocardiography. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Society of Echocardiography. She has been on staff at the John Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute of Ochsner Medical Center since 1990. From 2012-2014, she was the director of the echocardiography laboratory. She is presently the director of clinical echocardiography services. Dr. Gilliland holds an appointment of associate professor of medicine in the Ochsner Clinical School-University of Queensland School of Medicine and is one of the teaching staff for the cardiovascular disease fellowship program at Ochsner Medical Center. Dr. Gilliland's expertise is in non-invasive imaging, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography including 4D imaging and tissue Doppler, echocardiographic guidance of intracardiac procedures, stress testing, valvular heart disease, hypertension and ischemic heart disease. She is an investigator on several research studies and has authored and co-authored manuscripts and abstracts in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Gilliland is a reviewer for major medical journals and serves on American Society of Echocardiography committees. She has been invited to speak at local, national and international meetings. Dr. Gilliland is a talented academic and clinical echocardiographer and cardiologist.
