Sandra A. Kemmerly, MD, MACP, FIDSA has been practicing medicine for over 28 years and is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. She currently is the System Medical Director of Hospital Quality for Ochsner Health located in in New Orleans, La. In addition to her administrative role, Dr. Kemmerly maintains an active practice at Ochsner Medical Center-Jefferson Highway as an infectious disease physician in the clinic and hospital.A former American College of Physicians Governor for La. and member of the ACP Board of Governors for seven years, Dr. Kemmerly was recognized as a Master of the College in 2009 and received the Louisiana Chapter Laureate Award in 2011. She has also served on several committees of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of IDSA from 2007-2010.Dr. Kemmerly has completed the Intermountain Health Advanced Training in Healthcare Delivery Program, a comprehensive course covered quality improvement theory, analytic methods and implementation techniques, in addition to obtaining a patient safety practitioner certificate from the Johns Hopkins Patient Safety Practitioner Workshop at the Armstrong Institute for Safety and Quality.Dr. Kemmerly has also been involved in quality improvement and leadership activities at Ochsner Medical Center since 1996, including serving as Medical Director of Infection Control and Employee Health, and Chair of both the Performance Improvement and Ambulatory Pharmacy and Therapeutics committees. Dr. Kemmerly has been responsible for oversight and development of practice standards and treatment guidelines, trained as a Change Acceleration Process (CAP and Workout) facilitator and a member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee, serving as President of the Medical Staff of Ochsner Clinic Foundation Hospital from 2010-2012.
