Debbie Theriot has been in the nursing profession for over 20 years at Ochsner Main Campus on Jefferson Highway. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She then graduated from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She went on to complete a Master of Nursing degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1992. She completed the Wound Care Program at Medical University of South Carolina in 1999 and has board certification in wound care. Since that time she has provided specialty wound care services as well as education for both nurses and residents.As a CNS she provides treatment services to patients who are vascularly compromised focusing on limb salvage. She sees patients with complicated, non-healing wounds of all etiologies including arterial and venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds, malignant wounds, lymphedema, burns, infected wounds including those with osteomyelitis, pressure ulcers, atypical wounds and abscesses. She utilizes a variety of advanced wound care modalities including wound vac therapy, bioengineered tissue, compression therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and other advanced wound care dressings. She is presently a member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. She has spoken at several national conferences and performed inservices for nurses and residents on wound care.
