As a physician, I specialize in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. However, I became a doctor because it gave me an opportunity to improve people's lives through science. My generation has been trained in an environment that boasts some of the most talented physicians and advanced medical resources ever known. It is an amazing time we live in and I get the opportunity to expand my knowledge every day. Most importantly, I get to meet new people and serve as a leader of an outstanding medical team.Communication with my patients is one of my highest priorities. I need to understand my patient's symptoms and illness as well as their treatment goals. I also need to make accurate diagnoses and communicate my recommendations in a clear manner. If I can't understand and relate to my patients, I will be of no use to them.
