Dr. Gretchen E. Ulfers specializes in Internal Medicine at Ochsner Medical Center- Kenner. As a native of New Orleans, Dr Ulfers graduated from Cabrini High school and later received her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology. She served in the Louisiana National Guard for 9 years. She attended St Matthew School of Medicine to obtain her medical degree. Dr Ulfers completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Ochsner Medical Center with additional training in Hospice and Palliative Care. She is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Hospice and Palliative Care. She is also professionally certified as a Hospice Medical Director. She currently runs a transitional care clinic at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner with focus on re-admission prevention for high risk patients who were recently discharged from the hospital. Dr. Ulfers works as a Hospice Medical Director as well as a Skilled Nursing Facility Medical Director to provide a continuum of care for Ochsner patients in the outpatient setting. In her spare time, Dr Ulfers enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 daughters, and family pets. She also enjoys attending local theatre and ballet events.
