Overview

  • Dr. Bui is a New Orleans native who returned to Ochsner Health following his medical training. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center School of Medicine and went on to complete a general surgery internship at University of California - San Francisco. Dr. Bui performed his neurosurgery residency at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, and completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Bui's areas of interest include cranial expertise including endoscopy, minimally invasive cranial procedures, complex shunting and oncology. He treats cranial diseases including tumors, hydrocephalus (including normal pressure hydrocephalus), chiari malformation, seizure disorders, hematomas (acute & chronic), cranial cysts, and trigeminal neuralgia. His spinal expertise includes spinal instrumentation, tethered cord, spinal tumors and syrinx, spasticity. Dr. Bui treats spinal diseases including degenerative disease of cervical and lumbar spine, spinal fractures, spinal tumors, cerebral palsy spasticity, spinal syrinx, tethered cord, and spinal infections. He also treats carpal tunnel syndrome. For pediatric patients, Dr. Bui's areas of cranial expertise include endoscopy, minimally invasive cranial procedures, complex shunts, oncology and chiari malformations. Treatment of these cranial diseases include: hydrocephalus, tumors, craniofacial defects/synostosis, chiari malformations, seizure disorder, cranial cysts, and congenital cranial/brain defects. Dr. Bui's spinal expertise includes occipital/cervical pathologies, spinal tumors and congenital spinal defects. Treatment of these spinal diseases include spinal tumors, cervical instability from Down's syndrome, spinal dyspharisms, myelomeningoceles, lipomyelomingoceles, fatty filum, tethered cord, CP spasticity, and sports related spinal injuries.
