Dr. Lynette Heslet completed nurses training in 1972 and worked trauma, ICU and transplant units prior to pursuing her doctorate degree in clinical psychology. She served in the United States Air Force and upon her separation from the service, she returned to school. Dr. Heslet completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Florida in 1988. She completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with a minor in pharmacology in 1995 at the University of Arizona. In 2001 she completed a post-doctoral master's degree in clinical psychopharmacology. Since Texas had not implemented psychologist prescribing privileges she relocated to Louisiana in 2007. Dr. Heslet worked at Children's Hospital in the outpatient clinic and as a consultant for inpatients. After leaving Children's in 2014 she worked with federal and state agencies prescribing for both children and adults until joining Ochsner. Dr. Heslet is also the mother of a 23yo, Cheyenne, and she enjoys horseback riding, scuba diving, and skiing.
