Dr. Paul Zhang comes to Southwest Louisiana after serving as the medical director of medical oncology at the Institute of Integrative BioOncology and an attending physician at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the hematology/oncology section at Baylor College of Medicine. He has also held oncology positions at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Hematology-Oncology Life Center in Alexandria, Louisiana, and St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. Dr. Zhang holds both a medical degree and a postgraduate doctoral degree. He performed his residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center at Columbia University, as well as a clinical fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine and a cancer research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Zhang served as the principal investigator for eight different clinical trials over a five-year period from 2004 to 2008. The Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center has one of the largest offerings of cancer clinical trials in the Gulf South. Dr. Zhang is board certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology and was named to America's Top Physician list in 2006 and 2007 by Consumers' Research Council of America.
