Dr. Ashley Scheffer is a board certified pediatrician and board certified pediatric critical care physician who specializes in pediatric cardiac critical care. She attended Arizona State University in Tempe for her undergraduate studies, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in biology. Dr. Scheffer earned her medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and then completed her pediatric residency at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. After residency, Dr. Scheffer had a passion for treating critically ill children and pursued a pediatric critical care fellowship at Phoenix Children's Hospital where she developed an interest in pediatric cardiac critical care. She completed an additional fellowship in pediatric cardiac critical care at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She also retains memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. Dr. Scheffer has an interest in quality and systems improvement, heart transplantation and extra corporeal membrane oxygenation life support. She also enjoys volunteering her time with global health initiatives that help teach institutions around the world how to provide pediatric cardiac critical care.
