Dr. Dawn Pekarek is a native of Westlake, Ohio and is a member of the Ochsner maternal-fetal medicine team. After graduating from high school, she entered into a combined BS/MD program with the University of Akron and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (now known as Northeast Ohio Medical University). She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio. Following residency, she completed a combined fellowship in clinical genetics and maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Pekarek practiced in Ohio and California prior to moving to New Orleans. She has participated in national committees for both the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Her areas of interest include prenatal ultrasound, prenatal genetics, medical complications of pregnancy, and teaching.
